Thank you for your interest in joining the Franklin Lakes Volunteer Fire Department. We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to make a difference in your community and help your neighbors!
Membership is available to all those who are interested in serving our community and preparing to become active firefighters, ages 16-18 for Junior Firefighters and age 18 and over for Firefighters. No experience is necessary, and all training is provided free-of-charge.
To accommodate your busy and varying lifestyle, our volunteers are on-call at all times –
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Volunteers respond when they are available in the area
of our protection district. We offer opportunities for local members to respond from
home or work. We respond to a wide variety of emergencies and calls for service
including structure and vehicle fires, motor vehicle collisions, hazardous materials
incidents, technical rescues and severe weather events.
The Franklin Lakes Fire Department is always searching for committed volunteers to
serve. We offer free training, long-lasting friendships and memories, and many other
great benefits to all our volunteers.
The tangible and intangible benefits and rewards of being a Franklin Lakes Volunteer Firefighter are significant. The steps to the process for becoming a volunteer firefighter or junior firefighter are outlined herein.
